Fine distribution
The medium voltage lines which emanate from the regional substationscarry the electricity to the transformer stations in the individualtowns and villages. The transformers reduce the voltage from medium tolow voltage. The electricity is distributed from there to theindividual houses. Switzerland's local distribution network runsunderground, with the exception of a few rural networks.
The lines initially run from the transformer stations to thedistribution kiosks which are generally situated at road intersections. They contain fuse groups to which the cables for individual streets areconnected. The individual cables branch off from the cable to thehouses by way of junction boxes or isolation boxes. The cablesterminate at the fuse box in the house. This is also the point ofseparation between the public network and the wiring system in thehouse. The electricity has arrived at the consumer.
