Low-pressure run-of-river power station on the Rhine
Rheinau Power Station, which is situated in Rheinau (ZH), is co-owned in equal share by Axpo AG and EnBW Kraftwerke AG, Stuttgart. The share capital is 20 million francs.
The cross-border power station, which has an output of 37 MW, uses the downward flow of the Rhine between the Rhine Falls and a loop in the river 6.6 km away near Rheinau. The mean annual production is 245m kWh. The plant was built between 1952 and 1957. The banks of the Rhine and the surrounding area are a popular destination for walkers and people recharging their batteries.
The managerial mandate is held by Axpo Hydro Energy.
