Low-pressure run-of-river power station on the River Moesa

Tecnicama SA, which is based in Roveredo (GR), is owned by Elektrizitäts-Gesellschaft Laufenburg AG.

A hydro power facility was erected in Piani di Verdabbio (municipality of Cama) as far back as 1836 to operate a hammer works. The facility was upgraded to a hydro power station in 1957. It was replaced by a largely automated system in 1987.

Around 500 m above the central station in Piani di Verdabbio, the works water diverted away from the Moesa, fed to the small compensating basin at the central station via the headrace and processed continuously at the central station in Piani di Verdabbio with a maximum fall head of 14 m.

The mean annual production is 1.3m kWh, with 0.4m kWh generated in the cold half of the year and 0.9m kWh generated during the warm half of the year.

The managerial mandate is held by Axpo Hydro Energy.
