Advertising campaign

Climate change is presenting daunting challenges for mankind in the 21st century. By providing a virtually CO₂-free electricity mix, Axpo is actively contributing to safeguarding our climate. This ethos of environmental awareness is also the subject of the advertising campaign launched by Axpo in April 2009.

Axpo guarantees climate-friendly electricity production by providing a broadly-based electricity mix, generating its supply of virtually CO₂-free electricity mainly from hydropower and nuclear energy. The benefit of this mix is that after hydropower, nuclear energy has the lowest CO₂ output per kilowatt hour (kWh) generated. And when it comes to carbon dioxide emissions too, Axpo is leading the way: while Switzerland’s nuclear power plants produce an average of 8 grams of CO₂ per kWh, according to a certified environmental performance evaluation the Beznau nuclear power plant in the Canton of Aargau gives a very low value of CO₂. Moreover, the Axpo group of companies is the biggest producer of renewable energies in Switzerland.

TV commercial on CO₂

Axpo sees itself as a responsible energy provider committed to offering electricity production that is reliable, sustainable and innovative. In the ad campaign, an electric car being refuelled with electricity from a power socket reflects this attitude. The TV commercials and adverts give a light-hearted glimpse into the future of mobility.

As a Swiss company in the public arena, Axpo has intentionally placed its own employees at the heart of the advertising campaign. In the TV commercials and the series of advertisements, Axpo employees use their own thoughts to express the statement in favour of ‘green’ electricity production that Axpo itself also advocates.
