Experience hydropower

Visit the over 100-year-old Beznau hydropower plant. On this tour you will learn more about the complex technical processes and experience first hand the most environmentally friendly form of electricity generation in large-scale power plants.

Experience the power of water

The Beznau hydropower plant is a run-of-river power plant. It uses the Aare River gradient over a length of 7.4 kilometres and is located at the end of an artificial headrace canal. The resulting Aare Island is now the site of various Axpo electricity production and distribution facilities.

Guided tours for groups

A guided tour of the Beznau hydroelectric power station is free and takes 1 hour. Guided tours are available for groups of eight or more. They are suitable for people aged 8 and over.

We are happy to tailor our guided tours to your group – please contact us. We will also be happy to advise you on how you can combine your visit to the Beznau hydroelectric power station with a visit to the Axporama.
