Stork rescue operation

Sustainability has a long tradition at Axpo. And we live it anew every day. We take our obligations seriously in order to fulfil criteria such as efficiency, and ecological and social responsibility. In doing so, we improve our energy efficiency and climate footprint, and also make our sustainability principles applicable to our business partners. Protecting nature and the environment is important to us. A good example is this stork rescue operation carried out by Axpo linesmen in the Canton of Zurich.

How Axpo saves power with its grids

With its power plants and power purchase agreements, Axpo makes a substantial contribution to reliable power supply in Switzerland. Axpo is converting its 50-kilovolt grid to 110 kilovolts and invested CH 96 million in financial year 2019/20 (previous year: CHF 86 million). This sustainable investment in the security of supply not only doubles grid output, but also reduces power losses by a factor of four. The example of a substation near Zug demonstrates how this can be done with state-of-the-art technology:

Commitment to young athletes

For Axpo, sustainability means social commitment – because as a publicly-owned company we have a special obligation to society. Axpo supports over 200 different organisations, institutions and projects committed to culture, ecology or sports for the young and disabled. For example, in the Axpo football camps that offer training to sports enthusiastic girls and boys from the ages of 5 to 16 in 5-day football camps at over 40 locations in all of Switzerland.
