The new Axpo strategy focuses on three pillars. This includes the expansion of wind power and solar energy outside of Switzerland and growth in the international customer business in Europe, the USA and Asia. The focus here is on power purchase agreements that support the development of renewables. Axpo has set itself ambitious expansion targets for renewables, such as increasing the installed capacity of photovoltaics till 2030 by 10 GW - 20 times more than today. For wind power, the ambition is to add 3 GW of additional capacity.
Axpo is also setting its strategic course in Switzerland. The company wants to play a leading role in Switzerland's transition to a CO2-free energy future. The company also wants to be a leader in the expansion of photovoltaic systems thanks to its subsidiary CKW. In addition, the company intends to intensify its service and digital knowhow offering to other Swiss power plant operators. And like in the international area investments will be made into promising technologies for energy storage, such as batteries and hydrogen.
With its new strategy, Axpo intends to concentrate on three main pillars: The expansion of renewable energies abroad, development of the international business, and stabilising the business in Switzerland and establishing a leading role in the Swiss photovoltaic business. In order to generate capital for investment in these growth fields, cost-efficiency in the company is an important topic. Divestitures will also be reviewed based on the strategy focus.
