The Federal Act on a Secure Electricity Supply from Renewable Energy Sources

On 18 June 2021, the Federal Council adopted the dispatch on the ‘Federal Act on a Secure Electricity Supply from Renewable Energy Sources’, which includes the revision of the Energy Act and the Electricity Supply Act. This federal legislation is intended to lay the foundations for scaling up renewable energy and creating specific instruments for ensuring supply security (e.g. formation of an energy reserve, subsidisation of winter electricity). The draft bill is now being debated in Parliament.
