Naturbett® horse bedding – made by Axpo

Axpo Biomasse is striking out in new, innovative directions. The company has developed horse bedding that reduces stable work for horse owners and enhances equine well-being.

Axpo Biomasse is the leading Swiss company for organic waste processing. With 16 fermentation plants, 6 composting sites, and the mobile services of its subsidiary Berom SA, the company serves over 4000 customers in Switzerland (cities, towns, industry, trade and private households) and extracts energy and nutrient-rich natural fertiliser from this organic waste. Energy such as fertiliser carries the seal of quality for ecologically manufactured products.

Visibly enhanced equine well-being

The new, innovative horse bedding is the result of a long development phase and belongs to the microbial active bedding products. In comparison to common bedding, this permanent bedding does not have to be removed and replaced every day, which reduces work in the stable.

The horse bedding also promotes equine well-being. The soft, warm substrate encourages horses to lie down, suppresses ammonia odours and is allergy-free. The horse bedding components, natural fertiliser and fine wood-based material, are the optimal combination thanks to their different humidity characteristics and structure. As a result, this bedding has various advantages in comparison to common bedding.

But take a look for yourself here:

Christof Brogli, owner of Horsefarm Schweiz GmbH, has been using this bedding product. He says: "In operative terms we were able to increase our efficiency: In addition to the well-being of the horses, less work and manure are the two most important economic factors that convinced us."

New brand

One wouldn’t expect Axpo to be involved in marketing horse bedding. As a result, a new brand, Naturbett®, was created for Axpo Biomasse AG. The new product will be systematically and sustainably estalbished in the horse sector.
