Our Business
Axpo is an international leader in energy trading and the marketing of solar and wind power. In Europe, the company markets 16,600 MW of renewable energy for its customers. 5000 employees combine experience and expertise with a passion for innovation. Axpo develops innovative energy solutions for its customers in 40 countries across Europe, the USA and Asia. These include, for example, services in the areas of procurement and structuring of power portfolios, tailor-made PPAs or risk management solutions. In its Swiss home market, Axpo is the largest producer of renewable energy.

Our IT Projects
We develop complex mathematical models to efficiently operate power plants and gas storage facilities.
Quant Platform is capable of running models in various programming languages, and we are profiting from cloud-native technologies to ensure flexibility, scalability, and high performance. We collaborate closely with the Origination and the Risk Management departments to make sure we are able to correctly evaluate business opportunities and calculate risk exposure. With regard to technologies, we centre on .NET, Python, R and we are now moving towards the Azure cloud with Docker and Kubernetes.
We operate a state-of-the-art Web Portal to interact with Axpo customers.
Axpo provide clients with data on their consumption, offering forecasts, invoices, energy prices and positions, etc. Uniquely, we also offer trading modules for clients to hedge their risk. As the Customer Portal is a client-facing app, interactions take place with the Product Manager and the Origination Department to communicate with key clients and define requirements. The product started its journey to the Azure Cloud some time ago utilizing both a micro-service architecture and cloud-native technologies. Have a look at this video to see the result: Video
A complete redesign of our current on-site setup for market data has been underway to raise the level of functionality using cloud technology.
It’s a very ambitious project to leverage cutting-edge cloud technologies and it allows us to be a pioneer in the energy trading business. The project spans multiple business units (Risk, Trading, Mid Office, Advanced Analytics) and also Axpo subsidiaries. Collaborating internationally and being close to our internal clients is a crucial factor for success. The changing energy sector is abundant with new challenges offering the potential to enrich our daily collaboration and provide a great many interesting insights into the business.
We support our customers to have a clear overview of their energy portfolio.
FoReSt is a platform used to exchange meter data between Axpo, its clients, and a specialized forecast provider. It offers a reliable forecast of renewable energy production requirements for wind and solar parks across Europe. This platform was built in partnership with Minsait and is capable of managing large sets of data utilizing both a micro-service architecture and cloud-native technologies. Axpo offers opportunities to collaborate in meaningful projects which have an impact in our business.
At Axpo there are multiple ways to collaborate across different departments. For instance, Axpo ensures meter data streams from thousands of clients, using a metering monitor tool built to automate, check and provide easy-to-use functionalities. This allows Mid Office to track SLAs with our clients and escalate any issues. It is based on SQL Server and C#. Understanding the requirements will become a key ability you will develop.
