The electorate of the municipality of Ilanz/Glion voted against this project at the end of November 2023. For this reason, Axpo will no longer continue to develop this solar project.

The alpine solar plant "Ovra Solara Camplauns" would have been built on an area of 200,000 square metres at an altitude of around 2,000 metres on the Alp da Schnaus. The area could have continued to be used for leisure activities such as skiing, biking and hiking even after the construction of the solar plant and could still have been used as pastureland. The approximately 15 MWp ground-mounted system would have been built in the municipality of Ilanz/Glion and would have produced around 22 GWh of electricity in future, enough to cover the electricity consumption of more than 4,700 households.

The project in figures:

  • would have been built at around 2,000 metres above sea level
  • 15 megawatt peak installed capacity
  • Would have produced approx. 22 gigawatt hours of electricity per year
  • Electricity for more than 4700 households
  • 36,000 solar modules would have been installed
