Production & Distribution
Ensure a secure power supply
Our employees in generation and distribution help to shape the energy future. The aim is to ensure the safe, stable operation of our power plants and distribution grids. The demands and technical advances on the energy market drive us to grow in the field of renewable energies. This requires our employees to contribute innovative, agile approaches and technical expertise.
The company is responsible for the safe, reliable and environmentally compatible operation of our power plants in the areas of large-scale hydropower and pumped storage, nuclear power, gas, small hydropower, wind power, biomass and photovoltaics. As a skilled craftsman in operation or maintenance, you will deal with the electrical and technical systems. You will make an active contribution to security of supply. As an engineer in the fields of Renewable Energies, Hydro Power or Nuclear Power, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of existing power plants and facilities, as well as for the planning and implementation of new projects. Our engineers must be innovative, open to change, technically versed, and have a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Our employees contribute their basic technical knowledge and combine it with IT and economic efficiency.
As a network engineer, you will be involved in the operation, maintenance, and construction of networks for Axpo or third-party companies. These tasks require a basic knowledge of electrical engineering, a methodical approach and a high degree of customer and result orientation.
Our data scientists deal with the digital transformation of our production facilities and networks. Our employees use large amounts of plant data, for example, to open new business areas or optimise existing ones through data analytics and predictive maintenance. This represents an important basis for modern energy production and supply. It requires technically affine data scientists that have analytical and networked thinking skills as well as an innovative or agile mindset.
Our hydropower plants and holdings are spread throughout north-eastern Switzerland and as far as Valais and southern Switzerland. They produce reliable electricity.
The engineering department in Baden plans interesting projects for the renovation and renewal of hydropower plants. Our engineers renew various plant components such as mechanical, electrical, control and structural engineering and introduce environmental measures.
The electrical, mechanical and construction specialists ensure trouble-free production in the power plants on site and keep the plants technically fit.
Axpo Biomass is a leading company for the dry fermentation of organic waste. With its fermentation plants, composting sites and mobile services in Switzerland, it recycles the organic waste of more than 2,500 customers (cities, municipalities, industry and commerce) and turns it into renewable energy and nutrient-rich natural fertilizer.
The plant or site guard accepts the green waste from our customers and processes it into a high-quality and nutrient-rich natural fertilizer in liquid and solid form. The focus is on customer contact and the sale of our products.
Trading & Sales

The Trading & Sales division is the commercial division of the Axpo Group, which specialises in the trading and distribution of energy products and services in Switzerland and internationally. It comprises various business activities such as marketing its own electricity production, active trading on international energy exchanges or providing tailored solutions for business customers. Successful growth and a high degree of specialisation mean that this business area offers a large number of unique and attractive activities.
Our analysts work closely with traders to develop short, medium, and long-term trading strategies based on market news, data and models. This requires exceptional analytical skills, knowledge of quantitative methods and the talent to identify key trends at an early stage.
Due to the enormous amounts of data that we process every day, we are dependent on an extremely efficient IT system. We use the latest technologies and approaches such as cloud computing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Our traders trade in the various European trading hubs with various trading products, such as electricity, natural gas, oil, coal, biomass, as well as CO2 and green certificates for energy from renewable sources. The qualities they bring to this function are very good analytical skills, strong nerves and resilience, good self-management and the ability to assess risks.
