The electorate of the municipality of Ilanz/Glion voted against this project at the end of November 2023. For this reason, Axpo will no longer continue to develop this solar project.

The "Ovra Solara Rueun" alpine solar plant would have been built on an area of around 500,000 square metres at an altitude of over 2,000 metres on the Alp da Rueun. The area could have continued to be used for biking and hiking after the construction of the solar plant and would have remained usable as pastureland. The approximately 30 MWp ground-mounted system would have been built in the municipality of Ilanz/Glion and would have produced around 44 GWh of electricity in future, enough to cover the electricity consumption of more than 9,400 households.

The project in figures:

  • would have been built at around 2,000 metres above sea level
  • 30 megawatts of installed capacity
  • would have produced 44 gigawatt hours of electricity per year
  • Electricity for more than 9,400 households
  • On an area of 50 hectares
