01.06.2026 – Roland Leuenberger today takes over as Chair of the Board of Directors of Axpo Holding AG from Thomas Sieber. After 10 years at the Axpo Group helm, Sieber is handing over a strategically diversified company in excellent shape. Under experienced energy sector expert Roland Leuenberger’s leadership, Axpo is well set for continued success.
Thomas Sieber has successfully steered Axpo through challenging times. The Axpo Group is now Switzerland’s largest producer of electricity and an international pioneer in energy trading and the marketing of solar and wind power. Strategically, its broad diversification means the Group is strongly positioned to succeed in today’s dynamic international energy markets.
During the past 10 years under his leadership, Axpo has tripled its equity and significantly increased liquidity. With investments of 4.8 billion Swiss francs – of which 2.6 billion was in Switzerland – Axpo has strengthened the Swiss energy infrastructure like no other company. At the same time, Axpo has paid more than 1 billion Swiss francs in dividends to the benefit of the cantons and their populations. In the last three financial years, Axpo recorded the best results in its history.
Commenting on these achievements, Thomas Sieber said: “Throughout this time, we have reliably contributed to Switzerland’s energy supply and met around 40 per cent of the country’s electricity demand annually. I am proud of that.”
