Energix Group, one of Israel's largest renewable energy companies, has extended its cooperation with Axpo Poland through 12-year power purchase agreements. Covering the purchase of all electricity generated by the five Energix wind farms operating in Poland, the PPAs enable Axpo to continue offering end users with renewable energy through to 2034.
Both companies have been working together since 2015, when the Israeli company entered the Polish market. This latest development involves power offtake and balancing services for five wind farms owned by the Energix Group. Located in Western Pomerania and Warmian-Masurian voivodships, the plants have a total installed capacity of approximately 300 MW. Extending cooperation with Energix strengthens Axpo's role as one of the leading renewable energy offtakers in Poland, with a current portfolio of more than 1.6 GW of installed capacity.
Announcing the agreement, Axpo Poland Managing Director Grzegorz Biliński said, “Our long-standing cooperation with the Energix Group is based on shared values and a desire to develop climate-neutral methods of generating energy. By working with companies like Energix, we can offer our customers green energy that allows them to reduce their carbon footprint and secure their energy purchases in the long term. I am delighted that we will work with Energix for at least the next 12 years."
The wind farms from which Axpo will offtake power are located in Banie, Widuchowej, Sępopol and Iława. There are 130 wind turbines in total and they are expected to generate an average annual output of approximately 1 TWh.
Energix Polska’s CEO Artur Violante said, ”We have been working with Axpo for seven years, and they are one of our most important business partners in Poland. Above all, we value the company's professionalism and flexibility in preparing an offer tailored to our needs. I hope that with the development of our next projects, we will continue to develop our cooperation with Axpo in Poland.”
Axpo Polska has provided the Energix Group with flexible PPAs under which the company can decide whether the price of energy generated by its wind farms is settled based on the spot market or is hedged with forward products. This structure is suitable for wind farms operating under the previous support system (green certificates) in Poland and for auction projects.
