Roland Leuenberger nominated Chairman of the Board of Directors

30.09.25 - The Board of Directors of Axpo Holding AG has nominated Roland Leuenberger as its new Chairman for confirmation by shareholders at the company’s General Meeting. The 57-year-old Swiss national with roots in Aargau, currently serves as CEO of Repower AG. He will step down from this position before assuming his new role on 1 June 2026.

Last December, Thomas Sieber announced he would resign as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Axpo Holding AG after 10 years. Having led Axpo through challenging times, he leaves Switzerland's largest electricity producer and international energy trader strategically well positioned, with the financial strength that provides an excellent foundation for continued success. The handover to Roland Leuenberger will take place on 1 June 2026.

Roland Leuenberger has been CEO of Repower AG since 2019. He will step down from this position before taking on his new role as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Axpo on 1 June 2026. A former entrepreneur, he has held executive positions at the interface between the energy and financial sectors, including in an advisory capacity. Leuenberger’s professional expertise includes the financial management of large, internationally active organisations in the financial sector. A business economist, he brings proven leadership skills, knowhow, strategic foresight and political acumen, making him excellently suited to lead Axpo's Board of Directors.
