Axpo purchase of CCGT plant in Poland approved

30.01.2026 - Axpo Polska has received approval from the President of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) to acquire 100 per cent of the shares in Polenergia Elektrociepłownia Nowa Sarzyna sp. z o.o. The final purchase agreement was signed by both companies today.

The 116 MW combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) plant in Nowa Sarzyna, southeastern Poland adds a flexible generation source to Axpo Polska’s portfolio while supporting the integration of renewables and security of supply in the country’s rapidly evolving power system.

The facility will be integrated into Axpo Polska over the coming months, maintaining operational continuity and retaining all current employees. Consistent with Axpo’s strategy to develop and own strategic energy assets across Europe, the acquisition strengthens the resilience of Poland’s national power sector and supports its energy transition to a lower-emission and more diversified energy mix.

Details of the preliminary agreement in December 2025 can be found here.
