Mateusz Marczewski appointed Managing Director of Axpo in Poland

25.08.2026 - The Axpo Group confirmed the appointment of Mateusz Marczewski as Managing Director of its Polish subsidiary, having held the role of acting managing director for the past year. At the same time it was announced that previous managing director Grzegorz Biliński, who led Axpo in Poland for 12 years, was nominated to expand Axpo’s business in the Asia-Pacific region as Head of Origination APAC. Both appointments ensure management continuity and demonstrate the continued growth of expertise and responsibility within Axpo’s international business.

Mateusz Marczewski joined Axpo in Poland over nine years ago and has led the company as acting managing director since August 2025. His role was made permanent this month, formalising the subsidiary’s management model and marking the start of the company’s next phase of development in the Polish market.

With more than 15 years’ experience, Marczewski is an energy sector expert with extensive knowledge of origination and the trading of electricity, gas and emissions across European markets. He began his career in commodities trading and market analysis at Morgan Stanley in London. After joining Axpo, he was responsible for co-operation with the largest industrial customers and renewable energy producers. He subsequently developed relationships with institutional customers and investors in the renewable energy sector, led the origination team and served on the Management Board of Axpo in Poland.

Grzegorz Biliński, who led Axpo Polska for more than twelve years, has spent the past eighteen months developing the Axpo Group’s business in Japan. He is now drawing on his experience in Poland and Asia in a broader regional role. As Head of Origination APAC, he is responsible for developing Axpo’s origination business in the Asia-Pacific region.
