Axpo signs Sweden’s first market-based solar PPA with Sparbanken Skåne solar park

07.06.2021 - Axpo has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Sparbanken Skåne solar park, underlining its leading role as a provider of renewable energy PPAs in Sweden. Working with one of Sweden’s largest solar developers, Svea Solar, Axpo is now breaking ground with the country’s first market-based solar PPA, proving the case for commercial solar build-out.

Svea Solar, a Swedish energy company founded in 2014, has been focusing on the development of solar energy projects in its home market and internationally, the latest being the 18-MW Sparbanken Skåne solar park in the municipality of Sjöbo, Southern Sweden. The country’s largest solar park, which is an extension to an existing park nearby, is currently under construction and will be connected to the grid this summer. The future Sparbanken Skåne solar park will have an expected power production of around 19 GWh per year, which corresponds to the average electricity consumption of 4,000 households in Sweden.

At today’s Annual General Meeting of Axpo Holding AG, shareholders approved the company’s Annual Report and 2024/25 financial statements. A dividend payout of CHF 200 million was approved, as were total remuneration packages for the Executive Board for the 2026/27 financial year and for the Board of Directors until the next Annual General Meeting.

Axpo and Spectral launch Poland’s first utility-scale battery storage on the STELLAR VPP platform

Axpo is accelerating the development of its Virtual Power Plant (VPP) in Poland. Together with energy-technology company Spectral, Axpo has integrated the country’s first operational, utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) 24 MW/56 MWh in Nowe Czarnowo. The two companies have been working together since 2022, with projects delivered across the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Austria and now Poland. Further renewable and storage projects are in preparation.
