This program is a great opportunity to learn about the energy and natural gas market, the trends and the laws that regulate them, with an emphasis on digital innovations and new technologies.

Axpo Italia offers the opportunity to develop an internship project to develop a thesis in the following areas of relevance:

Management of commodities trading activities through bilateral negotiations while operating on the OTC market, obtaining system efficiency, cost control as well as guarantees for future investments.

Characteristics that define a candidate's suitability:

  • Degree from the faculty of Financial Engineering / Energy Engineering / Financial Mathematics / Finance / Statistics
  • Good knowledge of financial instruments and interest in financial markets, in particular for the energy and raw materials market
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, VBA, as well as good knowledge of SQL
  • Good knowledge of the English language

Management of the energy and risk portfolio, with analysis and planning activities that permit the possibility to identify, forecast and manage possible risk factors that may compromise economic or production processes.

Characteristics that define a candidate's suitability:

  • Masters in Physics / Mathematics / Quantitative Finance / Statistics
  • Excellent knowledge of Matlab, Excel, VBA and a good knowledge of SQL
  • Good knowledge of the English language

The study of voice recognition for search engines, both via smartphones as well as personal computers, and voice commands applied to home automation is undoubtedly worthy of interest. Recent technological developments indicate, in fact, that vocal interaction is a growing trend, a true cornerstone of what will be the customer experience (CX) in the future.

This research can be further explored in order to identify:

  • Innovative applications for voice assistants, implemented in a service supplying electricity and gas for domestic use.
  • Development of cutting-edge solutions based on the use of voice assistance for commercial operations and the CX in general.
  • Development of conversational algorithms which can be replicated on different technological infrastructures.

In recent years we have witnessed a growth in banking transactions carried out through mobile devices. The more fluid structure of the various transactional phases makes the customer more inclined to make a continuous use of accounting and investment portfolio management services online. In this way, the competitive advantage generated by the mobility of financial services increases, but at the same time the exposure to possible cyber fraud also rises. If traditional passwords are becoming obsolete, authentication through biometric parameters is proposed as a standard for the next generation of IT security.

In this sense, research is aimed at developing biometric recognition systems for use with portable devices, for example, systems able to recognize and identify an individual based on some physiological characteristics. The aim is to develop possible innovative solutions for the management of payments and when activating services and contracts, based on biometric parameters such as voice, fingerprints and visual recognition.

Virtual reality is carving out an increasingly consistent space in the business world. Several sectors largely exploit this technology, which blends physical and virtual space at costs that become more accessible as its diffusion increases. We are still at the dawn of this technological trend that appears to have almost infinite areas of application, but VR has already allowed several companies to review the guidelines for customer care. Considering that viewers are now being cleared by videogame entertainment and augmented reality is a road widely traveled by the mobile universe, these technologies promise to revolutionize the use of services by consumers in the near future.

In this way research becomes a praiseworthy interest by addressing:

  • Potential projects in the Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality area aimed at intercepting target audiences with innovative methods and improving the Customer Experience.
  • Studies of interactions in virtual environments can follow the development of VR application.
  • Possible applications in the field of AR are applied in order to create customized routes of engagement with the user.

Artificial Intelligence is improving at a sustained pace and takes on multiple interactions with the end customer. In some cases it even substitutes human mediation, which remains an important factor in the experiential component of services, but it is no longer essential. Above all with regard to relatively simple consumer demands, AI allows for a reduction in costs and managing processes in a way that was previously unimaginable. AI applications are also utilized to analyze large amounts of data, process input streams in real time and create operational strategies that can streamline the decision making process.

Having said that, research is necessary in order to define:

  • Possible projects and applications to develop artificial intelligence algorithms to quantitatively and qualitatively increase the customer base, optimizing customer assistance and improving the approach to potential leads.
  • Predictive analysis tools aimed at anticipating the behavior of the target.
  • Analysis methods in Natural Language Processing (NLP) as a key element in classifying human inputs of the customer portfolio
