Successful Live Operation of eDoc at KSL

Hydro Digital, in collaboration with the development partner Voith and the employees of Kraftwerke Sarganserland (KSL) as well as the Hydro Production team, is pleased to announce the successful live operation of eDoc – a groundbreaking application that significantly supports the daily work of technicians in hydroelectric power plants.

Thanks to eDoc, employees now have the opportunity and flexibility to access the required and up-to-date technical documents on their tablets anytime and anywhere. The application presents information in a simple and context-specific manner, leading to a substantial increase in efficiency in daily tasks.

As part of the Hydro 4.0 pilot project, replacing paper documentation with a seamless digital workflow was one of the core use cases. The valuable operator know-how of KSL employees directly contributed to the development of eDoc, ensuring that the application meets the real needs of technicians.

In April 2024, eDoc was finally introduced at KSL with all functionalities and full SharePoint integration. Key functionalities include:

  • Intelligent document storage and management
  • Document access via any device
  • Use in online or offline mode
  • Document search via QR or barcode
  • Personalized document management
  • Support for redline corrections

Hydro Digital would like to express gratitude to all KSL employees, the Hydro Production team, and the development partner Voith for their contribution to this significant success and the successful launch of live operations at KSL.

Based on the positive experiences and inputs from KSL, HP plans to gradually roll out eDoc in additional hydroelectric plants in the coming months. This expansion underscores the commitment of the Hydroenergy & Biomass Division to leverage innovative technologies for improving work processes in hydroelectric power plants.

The successful implementation of eDoc at KSL demonstrates that digital technologies like these can make a significant contribution to efficiency improvement and optimal support for employees in hydroelectric power plants.
