KKB

The Beznau nuclear power plant (KKB) is part of Axpo’s power plant portfolio. It consists of two structurally identical light water reactors, each with a nominal capacity of 365 megawatts. Together, the two reactors generate approximately 6,000 gigawatt hours of electricity per year. That’s around twice the electricity use of the city of Zurich. The Beznau nuclear power plant also supplies heat to the Refuna grid (the Lower Aare Valley regional heating grid). 

KKL

The Leibstadt nuclear power plant (KKL) is Switzerland’s newest and most powerful nuclear power plant. For producing electricity, it has a gross nominal capacity of 1,275 MW. Axpo is the majority shareholder and on the management board.

Zwilag

Zwilag Zwischenlager Würenlingen AG is a company run by Switzerland’s nuclear power plant operators. Its purpose is to operate disposal facilities and prepare interim storage capacities for radioactive waste in Würenlingen.
