Aarekraftwerk Klingnau turbined less water

23.01.2023 - The Board of Directors of Aarekraftwerk Klingnau AG (AKA) has approved the annual report and accounts for the 2021/22 financial year for the attention of the General Meeting. Aarekraftwerk Klingnau produced slightly less electricity in the year under review, as the Aare River carried less water.

In fiscal year 2021/22, Aarekraftwerk Klingnau produced around 166 million kilowatt hours of electricity for its partners without any accidents or significant disruptions. This corresponds to the consumption of around 37,000 four-person households and is slightly less than in the previous year (186 million KWh). The decline in production is attributable to hydrological conditions. In the year under review, the Aare carried around 30 percent less water than in the previous year. On only 7 days of the year did more water flow than the power plant could turbine (previous year: 91 days).

The annual costs borne by the partners amounted to 8.2 million Swiss francs in the year under review (previous year: 10.1 million Swiss francs). Production costs thus amounted to 4.97 centimes per kilowatt hour (previous year: 5.43 centimes).

Aarekraftwerk Klingnau AG is a partner plant of Axpo and AEW Energie AG. Axpo holds 60 percent of the shares, AEW Energie AG 40 percent.
