KKB1: Back to full output after repair work

Unit 1 of the Beznau nuclear power plant (KKB) is running at full capacity again following repair work in the non-nuclear part of the plant. Due to an oil leak at a weld seam, one turbine of unit 1 had been shut down yesterday as a precautionary measure.

Yesterday at noon, one turbine of unit 1 was shut down as a precaution due to an oil leak at the turbine inlet valves. The unit's output was temporarily reduced by 50 percent. Meanwhile, KKB specialists repaired the leakage at a weld seam.

After the repair work, the affected turbine was brought back online after midnight. KKB 1 has been running at full load again since early morning. The Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate ENSI was informed about the incident. There was no danger to people or the environment.
