13.07.2021 | Sports festival for people with disabilities: PluSport Day goes local

Sun, fun and… smiling people

What a day - what a successful premiere: PluSport Day goes local. For the first time, the largest and most popular sports festival for people with a disability took place throughout Switzerland on 11 July – supported by Axpo as main sponsor. Five different post runs were held at 24 locations and over 500 athletes took part.

Due to the current COVID 19 situation, the PluSport Day was not held as a large festival in Magglingen this year, but with a new concept, decentralised throughout Switzerland. This meant that the annual highlight of PluSport could simply be held on the PluSport athletes' own doorstep and offered the participants a welcome change and perspective with a course over 5 different posts.

There was already a lot of laughter during the warm-up with the Jerusalema dance. During the ball juggling or the long throw and catch, the participants and the helpers were also often smiling and laughing a lot.

"We received only positive feedback from all over Switzerland and are very satisfied with this day," says PluSport President Markus Gerber. PluSport Managing Director René Will adds: "It is really unbelievable to see how many bright, happy and committed people are taking part. Our premiere was a success and that makes us incredibly happy."

PluSport Day goes local took place in these locations:

Amriswil, Bern, Biel, Bottighofen, Dietikon, Döttingen, Engstlenalp, Fribourg, Glarus, Heerbrugg, Horw, Kreuzlingen, Langnau i.E., Muri bei Bern, Rümlang, Rothrist, Sonvico, St.Gallen, Sierre, Solothurn, Visp.

We were there with our Axpo team in Rothrist. But take a look for yourself and see how cool it was:
