Proper waste separation pays off. You can save over CHF 100 per year if you separate kitchen and garden waste from the rest of your rubbish for fermentation. This also serves the environment: With the right process important nutrients are returned to nature.
About one third of all waste in Switzerland is organic. Fermentation uses the materials and energy contained in organic waste. Thanks to green waste collection, waste management becomes resource management. Fermentation has been a proven process for about 20 years. It is an ecologically and economically sound solution for handling garden, household and food waste.
Proper waste separation:
Garden waste: Lawn and field cuttings, bush and tree cuttings, flower and vegetable shrubs, leaves, weeds, and fallen fruit, balcony and potted plants (without the pots)
Household waste: Peelings, coffee grounds, small animal dropping and kitty litter, egg shells, compobag (composting bag)
Food waste: Fruit, vegetables and salad, leftovers, bread and other baked products, cheese, fish and meat, various fats
Synthetics, plastic, glass, stones
Ashes, textiles, medicines, mineral oils
Metal, tins, aluminum, vacuum cleaner bags, street sweepings, non-decomposable string
