Solar energy - photovoltaic solutions for industrial customers and energy supply companies

The solar industry is developing in only one direction - and that's up. On the other hand, prices for photovoltaics have fallen continuously in recent years. In addition, climate-friendly energy generation is gaining in importance. These factors are driving solar energy forward. The technology is also an important growth market for Axpo.

Along the entire value chain

Following its entry into the wind business, Axpo will take up its solar energy activities with the takeover of the French photovoltaic developer Urbasolar. Axpo thus continues to pursue a strategy of profitable growth in its international business. With Urbasolar, Axpo will operate along the entire solar energy value chain (planning, construction, operation).

The potential of photovoltaics in Switzerland

Various studies in Switzerland have estimated the potential of PV at up to 67 TWh. As part of the Energy Strategy 2050, around 25 TWh or over 40 per cent of Switzerland's total energy consumption must be replaced by renewable energy sources. The expansion of photovoltaics (PV) is becoming increasingly important. Photovoltaic systems on industrial rooftops, as well as PV systems in high alpine regions, could play an important role.
