Unit 2 of the Beznau nuclear power plant back on grid

07.08.2017 - Unit 2 of the Beznau nuclear power plant (KKB) went back on grid this morning, 7 August 2017, on the approval of the Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate ENSI.

The repairs on a 220-kV transformer cable in the non-nuclear section of the plant have been successfully completed. A reserve cable that was already installed for such cases was connected to the transformer, tested and put into operation.

The plant will now be gradually brought to full load. At times, steam from the non-nuclear section of the power plant will be visible. This does not pose any danger to human beings or the environment.
