Investing in infrastructure

Five reasons to invest in a good and reliable infrastructure!

1. Safety at work

In an emergency situation, saving a few minutes can be crucial.

  • Employees can use their mobile phones to call for help anywhere and at any time without wasting time.
  • In the event of an emergency (e.g. evacuation), the operating personnel can be specifically notified via voice call or text message.

An existing data coverage enables the integration of motion detectors, automatic smoke detectors or carbon monoxide detectors in places with poor or no signal technology. These detectors can then be centrally evaluated and displayed via the Internet of Things (IoT).

2. Safe and efficient operation

The information required for safe and efficient operation is stored centrally and available online anywhere and at any time through the existing data coverage.

  • Required technical documents, building plans, maintenance orders can be retrieved online anywhere and at any time. The flow of information is simplified (reduction of travel times, time-consuming searching and printing of documents, etc...). This saves time and costs.
  • In case of problems, video telephony enables an evaluation of the situation by experts who are not on site. A faster and competent intervention helps to avoid production downtimes.
  • Buildings that are not accessible can be connected to a remote monitoring system by means of solar cameras and mobile communications, for example, which enables targeted, demand-driven intervention.

3. Reduction of operating costs

With the expansion of mobile telephony and radio communications in the indoor areas of the power plants, the fixed network telephony will become redundant. With the reduction of fixed network telephony planned for the medium term, investment costs and annual maintenance costs can be saved.

4. Be ready for tomorrow's opportunities

For all new technologies, a well-developed communications infrastructure is a basic prerequisite. These include big data, cloud storage, the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics and sensor technology with the associated analysis tools.

5. No young talent without modern tools

Last but not least, a modern working environment with smartphone and tablet is an important prerequisite to remain attractive as an employer and to successfully recruit young talent - especially in remote mountain regions.
