Successful Introduction of eDoc
With the successful rollout of eDoc, 443 users in our power plants and engineering teams now have access to a modern, cloud‑based tool for plant documentation. In addition to DIVH, the first users from Axpo Grid have also started working with eDoc.
The solution is ready for use, runs stably (with a few minor limitations), and should now be actively used. Completing the rollout of the web application marks an important milestone within Hydro 4.0.
What can eDoc do?
eDoc and MS SharePoint fully replace the previous registration database (RegDB). The documentation available in eDoc corresponds exactly to that of the former RegDB and contains the complete digitized as‑built documentation of the facilities.
Currently still in progress: an extended search function. At the moment, only keyword search is available, as mandatory metadata (KKS, supplier, document type) still need to be added for advanced search capabilities.
Background and significance
Each power plant has extensive technical documentation, construction plans, operating manuals, electrical schematics, and more. Previously, this information was stored partly in paper archives and partly in Microsoft Access databases. With the growing need to migrate data to the cloud, the “eDoc DIVH” project was launched and its rollout prioritized.

Outlook
By the end of 2026, the Hydro 4.0 rollout of the mobile apps will take place in the power plants of HPO, HPM, and HPS‑A. These plants are already using the eDoc web application today. With the Hydro 4.0 rollout, the mobile app version for Android and iOS will also become available. At HPU, it is still being evaluated whether the existing FileMaker tool can be replaced with SharePoint and eDoc.
The introduction of QR codes in our facilities, combined with the mandatory metadata (plant structure / KKS), will further enhance the user experience: scanning a QR code will instantly retrieve all associated plant documents.
