Management change planned in Nuclear Energy division

14.01.2016 - Stephan Döhler (53), at his own request and as planned for sometime, intends to give up operative management of the Axpo Nuclear Energy division by December 2016 at the latest. He will continue working for Axpo in the function of Senior Manager Nuclear Energy in a reduced capacity. Axpo has already started the recruitment process for a new Head of Nuclear Energy.

Stephan Döhler has been the Head of the Nuclear Energy since November 2007 and successfully lead the division through various challenges, among others, the planning of replacement nuclear power plants, processing the impacts of Fukushima, the realisation of major projects in 2015, and the discussion on the nuclear energy phase-out. The focus of these activities was always on the safe operation of the nuclear power plants and maintaining their high availability. Last year, Mr Döhler announced that he would like to relinquish operative management of the division upon completion of the major projects at the Beznau nuclear power plant.

In his new function as Senior Manager Nuclear Energy in a reduced capacity, Stephan Döhler will directly support the new Head of the Nuclear Energy division and work on various key projects. He will continue his current Board of Directors mandates for the National Co-operative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste (NAGRA) and the Central Interim Storage Facility Würenlingen (ZWILAG), as well as his work at swissnuclear.

Andy Heiz, the Head of Assets at Axpo: „We thank Stephan Döhler for his excellent, longstanding management contribution and his exceptional service in the challenging nuclear energy environment. We are pleased that Stephan Döhler will continue to make his competence and expertise available to the company in his new function.“
