Controlled shut down of Beznau nuclear power plant Unit 2
05.08.2017 - Unit 2 of the Beznau nuclear power plant was shut down on schedule and taken from the grid at approximately 11.00 p.m. on 4 August 2017 in order to carry out repairs on the cable sealing box of a 220-kV transformer cable.
A production interruption of several days is expected. During this time steam from the non-nuclear section of the power plant will be visible.
This does not pose any danger to human beings or the environment. The plant is in stable condition.
The Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate ENSI was informed immediately.
