Alena Weibel to become new Axpo communications head in 2021

14.12.20 - Alena Weibel (33), until now the Deputy Head of Corporate Communications & Public Affairs, will assume responsibility for communications at Axpo over the course of 2021. Rainer Meier (62), who has led the department for 15 years, will be handing over additional management functions to Alena Weibel from 1 January. The complete handover is scheduled for 1 August 2021.

Alena Weibel joined Axpo in 2018 and is responsible for the company’s political and media work. She previously served as Head of Political Affairs at the Swiss Bankers Association. She studied at the universities of Bern and Basel, majoring in macroeconomics, international trade, growth and the environment. Alena Weibel: ‘The world of energy is faced with challenges concerning its future. We have to ensure that our work in Corporate Communications and Public Affairs is consistently focused on helping to shape this transformation and successfully positioning Axpo as a sustainable, innovative company in the minds of the public.’
