Production slightly down at KLL

10.01.20220 - Today the Board of Directors of Kraftwerke Linth-Limmern AG (KLL) approved the accounts for the 2020/21 financial year, which will be presented at the General Meeting on 17 March. In the year under review, KLL’s plants produced slightly less power than in the previous year.

In the 2020/21 financial year, the Muttsee, Limmern, Hintersand and Tierfehd power plants produced 1.59 billion kilowatt hours of electricity. This is equivalent to the average usage of over 350,000 four-person households and is less than in the previous year (1.71 billion kWh). The majority of the power came from the storage power plants (95.3%); only a small fraction was produced by the run-of-river power plants (4.7%). In the year under review, KLL’s storage power plants consumed a total of 1.62 billion kilowatt hours of electricity for pump operation. The annual costs borne by the partners sank by around 3.9% to CHF 177.24 million.

Over 2,400 people visited the Limmern pumped storage plant in the year under review. This was significantly less than in the previous year (3,200 people). Tours were suspended between November 2020 and June 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

KLL is a partner plant of Axpo (85%) and the canton of Glarus (15%).
