Unit 1 of KKB back on the grid

13.08.24 - Yesterday, a rapid shutdown occurred in Unit 1 of the Beznau nuclear power plant (KKB). In the meantime, KKB has rectified the fault that caused it. In consultation with the supervisory authority ENSI, the plant was reconnected to the grid during the night.

Unit 1 of the Beznau nuclear power plant was reconnected to the grid before midnight after a rapid shutdown occurred yesterday afternoon. The specialists at KKB have rectified the fault that triggered the rapid shutdown. It was a defect in a valve in the non-nuclear part of the plant. Once the fault had been rectified, the plant was reconnected to the grid in consultation with the Nuclear Safety Inspectorate ENSI.
