25.08.2026 - With the acquisition of Orgakomp AG on 21 August, Axpo Biomasse AG is expanding its portfolio to include an established composting plant and strengthening its regional presence in the Basel-Landschaft and Solothurn areas.
Orgakomp AG operates a composting plant in Läufelfingen (BL) covering an area of around 7,500 m², as well as a collection point in Trimbach (SO) covering an area of around 1,000 m². The company was founded in 1999 and processes more than 6,000 tonnes of green waste annually.
With the acquisition of Orgakomp AG, Axpo Biomasse AG is expanding its portfolio to include an established composting plant. At the same time, the Axpo subsidiary is strengthening its regional presence in the Basel-Landschaft area, securing access to the green waste market in the Solothurn area and creating a solid foundation for further growth in the field of biogenic waste stream recovery.
The long-standing expertise of Orgakomp AG’s three previous owners will be retained under the umbrella of Axpo Biomasse AG: one person will remain in employment, whilst the other two will continue to be available to provide various services.
A leader in the recovery of organic waste
Axpo Biomasse AG recovers around 340,000 tonnes of biomass per year at its 15 anaerobic digestion plants and 8 composting sites across Switzerland. The organic waste is converted into biogas, electricity, heat, natural fertiliser and compost. Each year, Axpo Biomasse AG produces a total of around 80 GWh of energy, which corresponds to the energy consumption of around 18,000 households.
Through its composting sites, Axpo focuses on returning high-quality nutrients to the natural cycle. Over a period of several months, non-digestible biomass is transformed into various high-quality compost products, suitable for use in gardens or in agriculture.
