Partial closure of Lake Klöntal for submarine cable installation

Axpo is replacing the existing cable line between the Vorauen and Magazin Klöntal transformer stations in the municipality of Glarus (canton of Glarus). The installation of the new power cable in Lake Klöntal will require a brief partial closure of the lake and the Rhodannenberg car parks at the end of September.

Beznau nuclear power plant: Both units back on grid

Axpo reconnected Unit 2 of the Beznau Nuclear Power Plant (KKB) to the grid following the completion of the refuelling outage. Unit 2 is now gradually returning to power operation and is expected to reach full capacity within approximately two days. Unit 1 has been back in operation since 21 August 2026, following the cooling of the River Aare.

Axpo signs its first public-sector vPPA in Belgium with veb energy agency

Axpo has won a public tender from Flemish energy agency veb (Vlaams Energiebedrijf nv) to conclude its first joint virtual Power Purchase Agreement (vPPA) in Belgium’s public sector. The agreement will provide six public organisations with long-term access to Belgian onshore wind energy provided through a long-term collaboration between Axpo and Belgian wind energy producer Elicio and greater certainty on energy costs over a ten-year period. This is the first vPPA delivered by Axpo's team in Belgium and a milestone for the company in the local market.
