Islas Regulating Reservoir: Main Renovation Work begins in June

Albula-Landwasser Kraftwerke AG (ALK) is currently renovating the Islas regulating reservoir, investing approximately 5.3 million Swiss francs in the project. The reason for this is progressive damage to the reservoir’s waterproofing. After ALK carried out various preparatory works in the summer of 2025, the actual rehabilitation work on the regulating reservoir will begin in early June.

Axpo inaugurated 200 MWp solar complex in Spain

The Vilecha solar complex in north-western Spain was officially opened by Axpo on 7 May 2026. The large-scale facility comprises four major photovoltaic plants with a combined capacity of 200 megawatts peak (MWp). The largest solar complex in the Axpo Group, Vilecha covers 310 hectares and began feeding renewable electricity into the Spanish grid in February 2026.

Axpo and R.Power sign the largest optimisation BESS deal in Central and Eastern Europe

Axpo and R.Power have signed another multi-year contract to optimise operation of a large-scale battery energy storage system (BESS) in Poland. The new 300 MW/1,200 MWh facility will be constructed in Dzięgielewo, Mazovia province, increasing the flexibility of Poland’s power system. The long-term agreement between the companies currently represents the largest deal of its kind for a single project in Central and Eastern Europe, and one of the largest in Europe.
