Beznau nuclear power plant: Unit 1 back in operation
20.09.2025 - Following the emergency shutdown on Thursday, Unit 1 has been back in operation since yesterday. The shutdown was caused by the failure of an extra-high voltage line. The plant responded as designed.
Block 1 of the Beznau nuclear power plant was reconnected to the grid yesterday.
On Thursday evening, the reactor in Block 1 underwent an automatic rapid shutdown. This was triggered by the failure of an extra-high voltage line in the Swiss electricity grid. The plant responded as intended in such cases and remained in a safe condition at all times.
