Axpo has completed a year-long data collection campaign at Flumserberg in the canton of St. Gallen to assess the potential for a wind farm with up to six turbines. The wind measurement mast used for this purpose is now being dismantled. The collected wind and bat activity data will serve as the basis for further project planning. On 10 January 2026, Axpo will inform the public in Tannenboden about the next steps.
The 120-metre-high wind measurement mast on the “Grappenchöpf” area at Flumserberg will be dismantled on Tuesday, 4 November. The mast recorded data on wind speed and wind direction at various heights. In addition, bat activity was recorded to assess the impact on local fauna and to develop appropriate protective measures.
In order to inform the public about the current project status and the next steps, a public information event will take place at Tannenboden on Saturday, 10 January 2026. An open exchange is planned, as well as the opportunity to address questions directly to experts present. The media will be informed in advance and invited to the event.
In March 2026, the Mols Alpine Corporation will discuss and decide on the further course of the project—within its remit, this is limited to the use of its own parcel and the decision on concluding a building rights agreement. Based on the measurement data and local framework conditions, planning will be further refined.
