Aarekraftwerk Klingnau: Slightly lower electricity production due to revisions

19.01.2026 – The Board of Directors of Aarekraftwerk Klingnau AG has approved the annual report and financial statements for the 2024/25 financial year for submission to the Annual General Meeting. Electricity production fell by around five per cent compared with the strong previous year due to revisions.

In the 2024/25 financial year, the Aarekraftwerk Klingnau produced around 200 million kilowatt hours of electricity for its partners (previous year: 212 million kilowatt hours). This corresponds to the average annual consumption of around 43,000 four-person households. Compared to the previous year, the Aarekraftwerk Klingnau produced around five per cent less electricity, mainly due to revisions to the power plant facilities. The water flow of the Aare was around three per cent below the 10-year average during the reporting period.

The annual costs borne by the partners fell slightly to CHF 10.5 million during the reporting period (previous year: CHF 11.1 million). As in the previous year, this results in production costs of 5.22 centimes per kilowatt hour.

Aarekraftwerk Klingnau AG is a partner plant of Axpo and AEW Energie AG. Axpo holds 60 per cent of the shares, AEW Energie AG 40 per cent.
