20.01.2026 – The Board of Directors of Kraftwerke Linth-Limmern AG (KLL) has approved the report and accounts for the 2024/25 financial year for submission to the Annual General Meeting. KLL power plants slightly increased their electricity production in the reporting period, once again making a substantial contribution to Switzerland's security of supply.
The KLL power plants in Muttsee, Limmern, Hintersand and Tierfed produced around 1.7 billion kilowatt hours in the 2024/25 financial year. This corresponds to the annual electricity consumption of around 435,000 four-person households and is a substantial contribution to Switzerland's security of supply. This represents a slight increase in electricity production compared with the previous year (financial year 2023/24: 1.6 billion kilowatt hours).
In the 2024/25 financial year, KLL's pumped storage plants purchased 1.851 billion kilowatt hours of electricity for pumping operations (previous year: 1.519 billion kilowatt hours). The annual costs from the energy levy charged to the partners fell by 0.19 per cent compared with the previous year to CHF 214.38 million.
KLL also invested in renovation, overhaul and maintenance work in the past financial year. In addition to various projects at the power plants, the first major overhaul of the funicular railway, which runs through a 4-kilometre-long tunnel from Tierfed to the Limmern pumped storage plant, took place in March 2025 after 12 years of intensive operation.
Interest in the Limmern pumped storage plant remained high in the past financial year. Over 6,300 people visited the facilities (previous year: around 6,900 people).
Kraftwerke Linth-Limmern AG is a partner plant of Axpo and the canton of Glarus. Axpo holds 85 per cent of the shares, while the canton of Glarus holds 15 per cent.
